Fischer and I are were in Maine for a couple weeks. I was there to close out the summer writing intern program for work (check out their blog at http://www.northeastparkscience.wordpress.com). Then we were on vacation for a week, being a tourist in Bar Harbor/Acadia NP and Boothbay Harbor.
For the first few days, we stayed with Bill and Pauline and Molly, their giant (no joke–giant) schnauzer. Bill and Pauline were wonderful hosts and are great friends; Molly is a goofball and a love. It took Fischer a day or so to figure out that Molly’s intense staring was harmless and that she might actually make a good friend. He gave it some thought and then tried to woo her. Its hard to describe what this looks like, so watch this video. We humans thought it quite funny and entertaining. Poor Molly seemed baffled by the whole thing.
