Bantics

Bantics…the antics of the banties…the smallish chickens in Tina’s flock. There are 5 of them these days (there were some casualties): Bullet, Big Momma, Ginger, Babs, and Angel. I think they are the most interesting in terms of chicken-personality, behavior, and quirkiness.

Since the most recent round of casualties, extra special precautions have been instated. Every morning, there is “The Schlepping of the Banties” from their coop to the fenced in yard behind the big-chicken coop. Every evening there is “The Running of the Banties,” a much simpler process where the yard gate is opened and they go back to the coop on their own. Sometimes they really do run–especially some of the hens–and sometimes it’s more of “The Meandering of the Banties.”
